Description

Under the direction of the Lead Lifeguard, teach swim lessons, lifeguard and perform public safety work in preventing injuries in the municipal pool facility.
  • Perform a variety of duties including constant observance of patrons, enforcement of safety rules and regulations, administration of first aid and/or artificial resuscitation and teaching swim lessons
  • Responsible for completion of pool deck work (i.

    , cleaning decks, gutters, guardhouse, diving boards, vacuuming, etc.
    )
  • Assist in conducting special swimming activities
  • Handle all patron and pool problems in an efficient, timely and proper manner according to established procedures
  • Function as part of a crew within an emergency plan for the handling of accidents in pool areas
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, AED Certifications

Preferred

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Three (3) months (one season) experience teaching swim lessons

Criteria/Conditions

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
